One of the most beloved creators in the sci-fi genre, writer and composer Paul Shapera’s works examine the need for genuine human connection against an ever-evolving technological landscape; a theme that propels his steampunk opera The Dolls of New Albion - his most popular work and the first part of the “New Albion'' Tetralogy. Set in the fictional city of New Albion, The Dolls of New Albion, focuses on four generations of the McAlistair family and their attempts to raise the dead by placing souls into mechanical “dolls.” Originally used to help people connect back to their dear lost ones, the McAlistairs and all of New Albion discover that this connection is more hollow - and more dangerous - than anyone could have ever imagined. Long an underground cult hit and a smash at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Feral Theatre Company is honored to present the Regional Premiere of The Dolls of New Albion - the third production in the United States - as a live-streamed event that combines live performance, digital projection, shadow puppetry, and more.
